Update from Jelly Bean
A DAY OUT IN HISTORIC ARUNDEL
Yesterday we went to one of my favourite places, Arundel, just a short drive from Chichester on the A27. Patricia, my owner, loves the cobbled antiquity of the town and the funky ambiance of the shops and galleries there. She often goes with friends to mooch around and lunch at the Parsons Nose – and a whole gang of them go every year to the Arundel Festival (mid to end of August). I am not allowed because I cant be trusted not to stop at every street food stall but the humans get to go to amazing plays in people houses, see loads of great street entertainment and watch the boat races on the river Arun.
Yesterday though we (Matilda, the Fiend and me) went with Patricia on a walk by the river. Usually we walk for about 40 minutes to the Black Rabbit pub where the Arun divides but Matilda trundels along very slowly now as she is so old. She also needs to stop every now and then and gaze in geriatric confusion at the boats floating by so we all have to wait politely till she gets the urge to move forward again. After 40 minutes we were only half way to the pub so we sat down on the embankment and shared Patricia’s picnic lunch instead. Tuppy runs in and out of the undergrowth looking for moorhens but someone needs to tell him that barking loudly is a bit of a give away and he has as much chance of catching one as I have of getting my teeth round a street burger. Still – we both live in hope.
Arundel Castle is also worth a mention as they have brill things for kids, and adults, throughout the year. Best of all are the falconry shows but, sadly, dogs are not aloud. I cant think why.
See you soon JBx
